Cider Braised Cabbage with Bacon

1 head cabbage, thinly sliced
1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 cup apple cider
1 Tbsp. butter
4 pieces bacon, diced
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
salt and pepper


Place butter and bacon in a large wide pot over medium-high heat. Cook until bacon just turns a golden brown. Add onions and cook until golden brown. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the rest of the ingredients and cover. Simmer until cabbage is al dente, about 15-20 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Don’t overcook. Enjoy!
