FAQs

Q. How Do I Pick Tulips?

A. We provide a basket upon check in to collect the tulips (1 basket per each adult ticket only). Simply reach down as close to the ground as possible, grab the bottom of the tulip stem, and gently twist to break the stem off from the bulb below the soil. Don't worry if the bulb comes out of the ground when you pull up; you can either snap the bulb off or we can cut the bulb off when you checkout.

Q. Where Do I Pick Tulips?

A. Our PYO tulips are located at 10 Pleasant Street Lexington, MA.

Once you arrive at the farm, keep an eye out for signs directing you to the PYO entrance. See the photo below for where the stairs are located on a map.

Please note that the easiest way to the field is down a set of stairs, and the tulips are of course located in our fields, which can be muddy/wet and rocky.

Strollers? Strollers are absolutely welcome at the farm, however, ground conditions in the field and other areas may not be easily accessible for strollers and may be difficult to navigate, especially during wet weather.

Q. Is The Farm Wheelchair Accessible?

A. There is accessible parking available in the main parking lot. This is an active farm so ground conditions and some areas for Pick Your Own Tulips may be difficult to navigate, especially during wet weather.

Please note that the entrance to Pick Your Own Tulips is down a flight of stairs, but accomodations are available! Call ahead or ask us when you arrive if you need assistance getting down to the tulip field.

Q. When Does Wilson Farm's Pick Your Own Tulip Season Begin?

A. Opening day is April 20, 2026 for a special holiday opening. We expect operations to run for approximately 2-3 weeks. The best way to stay updated on the progress of the tulips and on when we release tickets is to sign up for our Email Newsletter, follow us on Instagram, or check the tulip ticket reservations page linked at the top of this page.

Q. How Should I Take Care Of The Tulips Once I Bring Them Home?

A. Once you get home, fill a glass with cold water. Remove any foliage that will be below the water line in your vase. Carefully, re-cut the stem half an inch from the base of the stem with a clean and sharp knife or scissors. Keep the tulips out of direct sunlight and warm locations. Check the water level of the vase daily, adding water when needed. Completely change the water at a minimum of every 3 days.

Droopy looking tulips? If you were not able to get home right away after the PYOT experience, and the tulips look a little droopy when you remove our wrap, follow the instructions above but re-wrap the tulips so that they are sitting wrapped in the vase with water until the next day to allow the tulips to firm up while drinking water.

Tulips continue to grow after they've been cut so you may have to give them another fresh cut after a few days if you notice they are becoming too tall for your vase.

Q. Are We Able To Bring The Tulip Bulbs Home With Us?

A. Yes, absolutely! If a bulb comes up with your picked stems, you are welcome to take them home with you. We will put them in a paper bag, and you should keep them in a cool, dry, and dark place (like a basement) until the fall where you can attempt to replant them.

Q. Can My Child Pick Tulips Even Though Stems Only Come With The Adult Ticket?

A. Of course! Only the adult tickets comes with 10 stems each that are included in their admission ticket. Anyone in your group with valid tickets may pick tulips, and any additional stems can be purchased for $1.50 extra per stem.

Q. What Time Does Wilson Farm Open?

A. The farm stand is open daily 9 AM - 7 PM. Pick your own tulips begin each day (weather permitting) at 10 AM, and are open until 5 PM. Please note that the last admission to the field is at 4 PM for 1 hour of picking. Wilson Farm reserves the right to change or alter picking days or hours so please call before if you have any concerns.
