The farmstand our customers see today; which includes the huge timber barn
sitting amongst our 33 acres of growing fields, along with the 37,000 square
foot greenhouse,
- all began in 1884. Two visionary farmers, newly transplanted from Ireland;
James Wilson and his brother-in-law George Reynolds, farmed 16 acres here in Lexington and loading their horse drawn wagon, transported
their vegetables to Quincy Market in Boston.
Fast forward 124 years and four generations: and you'll find that all five
of the first vegetables grown here are still being harvested, and the
beloved chickens at Wilson's are still in residence. (It's rumored that a
few hens are 20th generation descendents from the original brooders.)
The farmstand is now open year-round, and is a twice "Best of Boston"
winner. Here you'll find our impeccable produce, house baked bread and
sweets, freshly prepared take home meals, our own hen house eggs, top
quality meats, dairy and cheeses from around the globe, fragrant cut
flowers, and a huge selection of lush garden and indoor plants.
Today, this fourth generation of Wilsons, along with our extended
families, and employees, uphold the tradition
of hands-on family pride along with that unmistakable can-do New England
spirit.
Year-round, children and adults delight in visiting our barn of baby
animals, and on most days, you'll meet Scott, Calvin, or Jimmy Wilson as
they enjoy sharing with you samplings from our luscious selections of fruits
or fresh baked goodies.
